Manor Road Doctors Surgery, Deal, Kent
Our practice aims to offer you continuity of care with Dr Ford. We have 2 regular locums to assist Dr Ford who do 1-2 sessions a week and when she is away oh holiday.
Dr. Ford provides a caring service and considers patient care to be our top priority, ensuring patients feel at ease when visiting their G.P.
We have excellent Practice Nurses who have long standing experience and each specialise in different aspects of the job.
Many of our patients are visiting the Nurse regularly and they are able to offer advice and support for their problems. We encourage our patients to follow a healthy lifestyle involving exercise and a healthy diet and if appropriate referrals can be made by them to a local exercise scheme. Diet advice can be provided for particular medical conditions.
We have a close knit team and our Receptionists are willing to offer help and advice in any way they can.
There will be a gradual shift back to normal care with a balance between seeing Covid and non-Covid patients. A “hot site” for Covid positive patients has been operating at Golf Road Surgery in Deal and we have contributed towards the manning of this site. We do not feel able at present to see Covid positive patients at the surgery but this may change.
Any patient at present is being treated as though they may have Covid, which requires the use of full protective equipment for all Clinical staff, and means that if we do see a patient it slows down our speed considerably.
We are trying to use video and telephone consultations as much as possible in line with Government guidance and any patients who are seen will be spaced out in time and space. This does limit the service which we are able to offer at present.
We continue to prioritise care for cancer and palliative care patients, as well as emergency treatment. The Nurses are also only able to see a limited group of patients via pre-booked appointment. Referrals for routine care have not gone back to normal as there is expected to be a huge current unmet need from the hospital system as well, however if you are concerned please give us a call.
We currently appear to finally have adequate PPE, and if you do come to the surgery you will be offered a mask and advised to use alcohol gel, and not to touch any surfaces.
Appointments will be kept as short as possible for the safety of our staff. We have fewer staff available due to social distancing measures which we have had to implement, and the need to look after our staff.
Please consider using self-care and current strategies such as E-Consult to access care. E-Consult can be accessed via our website. However you should access services when needed such as emergency care.
Please understand that we will try to keep you safe by separating Covid and non-Covid patients, use of social distancing measures and greater use of telehealth and video consultations.
There will not be a clearly defined end to the pandemic so we will keep you informed as and when things change.
Kind regards, Dr Marianne Ford
